Car hire company Europcar has published a guide for employers on the mobile workforce.
Future Mobility says that, as technology continues to develop, more employees expect to be able to work on the move and this is putting pressure on organisations to embrace connectivity. It quotes research claiming 37% of the world’s workforce will be mobile in 2015 and by 2017 50% of employers will require employees to use their own devices for work.
The guide covers the challenges such as security, as well as outlining the benefits of increased flexibility and productivity, and reduced costs associated with office space.
Ken McCall, managing director of Europcar UK Group, said: “Business travel is expected to increase 6.6% in 2015. Added to this, more and more staff expect to be able to work remotely, so businesses need to consider how they can reap the benefits of a mobile workforce. Do you allow staff to use their own devices and how will that impact security? What are the benefits and will it work for your business?”
