Flexible working conditions may be important to candidates when evaluating jobs, but other factors such as salary, career progression, benefits and office culture are higher priority, says recruiter totaljobs.

While 24% of 4,000 candidates surveyed named flexibility as a priority, 66% said salary was the most important factor in making a decision

However, employers are noticing a change in dynamics in the job market, with 66% using flexibility to attract the best talent.

Candidates are being offered various options including: part-time working (74%), job shares (48%), working from home (65%) and flexi-time (73%). Though down the list of requirements, flexibility is still important – 53% have flexibility and almost a third (31%) said they were looking for it.
