Aspiring public sector HR leaders are to create workforce agility plans in a bid to find the profession’s rising stars.
The 2014 Public Sector People Managers’ Association (PPMA) Rising Stars Awards is open to all public sector HR employees across the UK. The competition, run by the PPMA, Manpower Group and the Local Government Association, is in its second year and is part of a wider Rising Stars project that aims to identify future HR leaders through coaching and competition.
Entrants are being asked to come up with a business case to encourage workforce agility in order to help public sector HR departments adapt to the challenges they are facing. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend two days of personal coaching, communication and media skills workshops, before presenting their idea to a judging panel. The winner will be announced in May and the prize includes a seat on the PPMA board for a year, a blog on the PPMA website and the opportunity to shadow the association’s president.
Nick Heckscher, Manpower Group sector director, said: “This year’s theme of workforce agility is highly relevant and presents an opportunity for all parts of HR and all parts of the public sector to consider new, more productive ways of working for the benefit of us all.”
